Twitter Trending Topics

Nowadays, it is very difficult to blog just on a niche topic as suggested by blogging gurus. Even with the best SEO strategies implemented almost all major topics and even sub niches are saturated by heavy competition. Almost everybody has an internet blogging presence these days and people are blogging about almost every topic imaginable.

Thus, i am proposing a new method which I would call "Guerrilla Blogging".

As a Guerrilla Blogger, you must blog like just like a combatant in a guerrilla warfare.  You strike where the trending topics are and one of the sources of trending topics are twitter tweets. 

There are a couple of sites where you can have information on the currently trending topics which is shown by the hour and even minutes.

One of these sites is http://www.trendistic.com where you can see trends in twitter.

A guerrilla blogger may also prefer to continue blogging around his/her chosen niche. However, that niche should not be too specific in order to provide room for flexibility. For example, instead of choosing the topic "Manny Pacquiao" as your topic, choose a more general one like boxing. This would allow you more flexibility in applying the guerrilla blogging method. Since Pacquiao only fights about 2-3 times in a year, you can only have him as a trending topic a few weeks before his boxing match. Therefore it is best to use boxing as your topic since you can blog about any fight that is forthcoming although you can still have Pacquiao as your niche topic whenever his fights are drawing near.

In this regard, you can use search.twitter.com to have a feel of the topics being discussed in your wider topic. Just type "boxing fight" for example in the search box of search.twitter.com, you can see all the tweets in relation to boxing fight (see image below). This will let you know which upcoming boxing fights are being talked about most thus allowing you to direct your articles and blog posts to the coming fight being discussed most.

There are also twitter users whose twitter accounts are directed to tweeting about "Twitter Trending Topics". One such account is trendingtopics.  Take advantage of using these sites to know what are the twitter trending topics and push your guerrilla blogging to a higher level.

Guerilla Blogging is a new term. Google it and the results you would get would be about "guerrilla marketing".  Guerrilla Blogging is about blogging topic flexibility. Write on a particular niche but do not be too specific.  Have some room to vary your topics so as to take advantage of seasonal reader interest fluctuations. 

One very good topic are to use guerrilla blogging is "Sports".  There are seasons wherein the trending topics or hot trends are on Football Word Cup. Sometimes it is about a Pacquiao boxing fight. On a month to month basis the sports fans interests changes depending on what sports is having a main event that season.

In this regard, a guerrilla blogger should be knowledgeable and has interest on a wider spectrum that would include all topics under a more general area to write on.  Go ahead and explore the benefits of guerrilla blogging. To our success!
