This perfect shot of Mayon Volcano was taken at Cagsawa Ruins, Albay Philippines on a trip with college friends on April 30, 2001.

I did not really planned this trip. My college schoolmate at San Beda College dropped by at our house which is near the Southern Luzon Expressway with his Nissan Pickup on his way to Naga Province at about 6 A.M. He was with another college friend. I decided to go with them and we reached Naga at noon.

The next day we decided to drive to Albay to see Mayon Volcano. We reached the Cagsawa Ruins in the afternoon and we were so lucky to have been there on a very good weather. Mayon Volcano can be seen at its finest view.

This view was taken by his latest Sony Camera worth than 1,000 US dollars. After taking this picture, his friend suggested that we trek to the volcano from at this point where we took the picture.

His friend taught that the volcano is just near when in fact it maybe more than 10 kilometers to reach its foot.

I am so lucky to have taken this picture with my friend's camera. When you are looking at Mayon Volcano, you will feel that it is alive and it seems that you can feel its spirit. It is not just like an ordinary mountain or volcano. Mayon has a different appeal and aura.

I wish I could visit Mayon again!

I just hope I can go again with friends who know someone near the place so that we won't spend for hotel and lodging.

Mayon Volcano's location in the Philippines

Mayon is beautiful even in her violent eruptions!

Many tourists have flocked to Mayon in different occasions of her eruptions the last of which was in December 2009.

Her increase in activity increases local and foreign tourist arrivals instead of driving them out.  In fact, you can not find hotels for lodging during a Mayon eruption because they are always fully booked.  Everyone wants to see her in her fury.  The link below will take you to a hub which is about how Mayon's eruption attracts tourists.
